Rusted Earth Mountains (canvas wrap)

Rusted Earth Mountains has been my most popular series in the past couple of years. On the original the sky was created using imitation silver leaf for the background. The clouds were then rendered using acid oxidized copper paint to make it patina. I knew from previous work that when I use the acid over the metal leaf it will burn through it in places, so I painted the background black before apply the metal leaf and that gives it an antique mirror effect. The rusted earth was completed using acid oxidized iron paint to make it rust over a black background that shows through at the edges. The blue water feature was done with the same patina effect used for the clouds. I then add the mountain's metal snow peaks and foothills in my "Molten Metals" process in silver. The entire piece was then antiqued with multiple layers of translucent tar. The materials, techniques as well as design of this piece make it appear both timeless and contemporary. *Brian

Rusted Earth Mountains is a one of a kind hand embellished reproduction using our raised  “Molten Metals” process. This added dimension makes it look like the original but at a fraction of the cost. The metal is then antiqued and varnish is applied to the entire surface.  Printed on a ready to hang 1.5" deep canvas, the edges are gallery wrapped in black so there's no need to frame!
